Where time runs a little slower
Santisè is a country house in San Desiderio, a hamlet of Calliano Monferrato. Inside, rooms with the warmth of a lived-in home; outside, a long portico and a wide garden that in summer becomes the best dining room we have.
In the furnishing we looked for the same balance we look for on the plate: no nostalgia, no loud design. Wood, light, well-spaced tables and a view that ends in the hills.
The indoor rooms seat 80, the garden terrace about 40. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible.

Why we opened
When we were children, and a restaurant was a distant idea, we used to make agnolotti and gnocchi together. On empty afternoons we looked at photographs of traditional dishes in our mother's cookbooks — one of them was Il talismano della felicità.
In November 2003 we opened Santisè, for a simple reason: we wanted to share what we love about eating well. In the kitchen is Marco Scanavino, who almost always comes out to ask how it went.
These pages are an invitation into our world. The rest happens at the table.

Where we are, and what is around
We are in the heart of the Asti Monferrato, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape together with Langhe and Roero. Within a few kilometres are Moncalvo, Grazzano Badoglio and Castagnole Monferrato — the home of Ruchè — and the cellars of Grignolino and Barbera d'Asti. Asti is about twenty minutes away, Casale Monferrato half an hour, Turin and Milan a little over an hour.
